About
STUDY w HK offers free calculators and guides for Hong Kong school admissions — SSPA internal assessment, secondary-school banding and Primary One Admission points — built for parents. Everything runs in the browser; marks, ranks and other inputs are never uploaded.
- SSPA calculator — the current 999632 weighting and the new 88844222 scheme from 2026/27
- Banding estimator — an estimate from within-school rank, and an explanation of why an exact band cannot be computed from public data
- POA points — Discretionary Places points (maximum 35)
- SSPA timeline, SSPA process, Primary One timeline
Editorial standards
Every rule and figure is cited to Education Bureau primary sources (press releases, allocation leaflets, POA documents):
- Sources: weightings, allocation steps and admission dates follow EDB publications. Each guide lists the press releases and documents it cites.
- Last reviewed: every guide shows a last-reviewed date and is checked against the current announcements.
- Honest limitations: estimators state clearly what cannot be computed from public data. Banding especially: the HKAT sample averages used for the school adjustment are not published, so this site estimates within-school position and does not claim an exact band.
- Corrections: spotted an error or a stale date? Please tell us viafeedback.
Calculators and guides are general information, not admissions advice. Actual allocation results are those published by the Education Bureau and the schools.
About the author
The content is written and reviewed by Vivian Leung (梁靜怡), a Hong Kong parent whose two children went through secondary-school allocation in the 2022 and 2026 cycles. Over those years she kept organised notes on the Education Bureau’s assessment and allocation rules, which grew into this site’s calculators and guides. She is not an Education Bureau officer and does not offer paid admissions consulting; every rule on the site defers to the EDB documents cited on each page.
